Skeleton Window Earrings

Skeleton window earrings are where goth meets architecture. Designed to echo the silhouette of a cathedral window while incorporating a delicate skeleton backbone cutout, these earrings are both gothic inspiration and modern fabrication.

What makes them particularly compelling is how they’re made. Using a P2S xTool laser inside xTool Studio, each piece is cut with a level of precision that would be nearly impossible by hand. The laser allows for fine internal detailing. The skeleton backbone element isn’t just decorative, it creates contrast within the window frame, turning a simple outline into something layered and dimensional.

Material choice plays a big role in how these earrings come to life. Using 1/8″ acrylic in black helps the laser leave crisp edges that emphasize the architectural lines. In darker acrylics the pattern becomes bold and graphic, leaning more into gothic or alternative fashion aesthetics.

The process in xTool Studio is where creativity and fun meet. Designers can tweak the size to ensure the earrings are the perfect size for your look. Because the backbone cutout runs through the center, 1/8 acrylic is key; too thin, and the piece becomes fragile, too thick, and it loses that skeletal delicacy. Laser settings such as power, speed, and passes are pictured below for easy cutting.

There’s also a deeper aesthetic story behind combining cathedral imagery with skeletal motifs. Cathedral windows traditionally symbolize light, spirituality, and structure, while skeleton forms evoke mortality and the underlying framework of life. Bringing those together in a single piece of jewelry creates a subtle tension; something both elegant and a little haunting.

You’re not just producing accessories; you’re translating architectural inspiration into something tactile and personal. And because the design lives digitally in xTool Studio, it’s easy to iterate; adjust proportions, test new materials, or even experiment with layered versions that add depth beyond a single cut. Even add some mirror or glitter to the back side for hauntingly elevated look.
